A plain seven-port USB 3.0 splitter on a metre-long lead. The cable length is the useful part: a hub on a short pigtail has to sit right beside the laptop, while a metre reaches the far side of a desk or the back of a monitor stand where cables can be tidied away. Seven ports on a bus-powered hub is also plenty for a keyboard, mouse, headset and a couple of dongles, which is what most desks actually need it for.
